2008 - A five minute walk from our studio there's a part of the city known as Mesopotamia - a quiet path between two rivers. Like Iraq the area is patrolled by Toyota Hi-Lux pick-up trucks. It has been the inspiration for multiple alternative realities including Narnia, Middle Earth and Wonderland.
Military transports returning the bodies of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan somtimes fly overhead. The soldiers' bodies are then transfered to the nearby John Radcliffe Hospital, also visible from the twinned riverbanks. |
